Job Category: ScienceJob Description:Our Environmental business in Santiago is looking for an Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist or Geologist to join their team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the future of our Contamination Assessment & Remediation service line through the coordination and implementation of a wide range of environmental solutions and projects. This role will be based in Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile.The main purpose of the role is to conduct research or perform investigation for the purpose of identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of the population. Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, food, soil, water, and other sources.Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently. Understanding of multimedia remedial technologies for addressing a variety of contaminants including VOCs, SVOCs, metals, PCBs, and PFAS.Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, and evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards in different jurisdictions not just in Chile, but across the Americas.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.Being accountable to a global team, demonstrating the ability to work seamlessly across different time zones.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers. Coordinate field work associated with environmental investigations, Operation, Maintenance, and Monitoring (OM&M) sites, and remediation activities that will include drilling, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, excavation, vapor sampling, etc.
  • Sampling and Testing: Collect a range of samples for laboratory testing and undertake testing in accordance with statutory frameworks and best practice to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Carry out environmental impact assessments, delivering on assigned tasks to ensure comprehensive evaluation.
  • Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
  • Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports. Preparation of technical correspondence, project proposals, reports, work plans, and project specifications.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation: Gather information and resources, and draft and complete standard requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side
  • Environmental Risk Management: Coordinate the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating environmental risks.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in environmental consulting including environmental projects from investigation to remediation, remedial design, site assessments, report writing, data management & interpretation and project coordination.
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Interested in continuing professional development.
  • Collaborate effectively with remote team members on various projects and different time zones
  • Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 software
  • Fluent in English and excellent writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and willingness to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Practice and maintain solid safety minded behavior and practices.
