To support this, we need robust backend APIs and infrastructure that can scale efficiently across platforms.We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to play a key role in designing and developing these backend systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to scope, build, and optimize APIs and services that power Copilot across all platforms.This is a hybrid position based in Santiago, Chile, you’ll be required to come into our office at least 2 times a week along with the rest of the team. We work from home the rest of the week, but the office is always available in case you want to make use of it more often.Your Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support iOS, macOS, Android, and Web applications.- Contribute to architecture and infrastructure discussions, recommending improvements to ensure scalability, security, and performance.- Collaborate with Product and Client teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.- Participate in code reviews, ensuring best practices and high-quality standards.- Contribute to ongoing improvements in developer experience and system reliability.- Support the team in technical decision-making and mentor junior engineers as needed.Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience working on backend services.- Strong proficiency in Node.js / JavaScript (TypeScript a plus)- Experience with Google Cloud Platform- Hands-on experience with API design and architecture for mobile and web applications.- English proficiency — all meetings and internal communications are conducted in English.- Team player who can manage time independently.- Based in Santiago, ChileDesired Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.- Experience with Firebase / Firestore, CI/CD systems, and monitoring tools.- Familiarity with performance optimization, scalability, and alerting infrastructure.- Prior exposure to mentoring or supporting peers in a collaborative engineering environment.Compensation and Benefits- Monthly salary of CLP $3.000.000 - $3.600.000 (líquido).- Equity in the company (Stock options).- Home Office Setup.- Complementary health insurance (in process).- Remote work allowance (CLP $50.000/month).- Wellness allowance (CLP $85.000/month).- We cover sick days that your health insurance doesn’t pay (usually the first 3 days of a medical leave).- After 2 years in the company you get 5 extra vacation days, and 5 more after 4 years.- Extra free day for your birthday 🥳 (you can take it any day of the month).- 4 administrative days per year (non-accumulable).- Annual company retreats.- Annual week-long rotations between the US and Chile.At Copilot Money, we believe that diverse teams build better products.
