At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.Job SummaryIn this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s electrical engineering aspects are met.This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.Major ResponsibilitiesLevel 1- Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Participating in the design, development and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinating work and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinating electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- Preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
- Providing technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.Level 2- Designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Preparing or assisting in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals. When delegated, providing guidance to other electrical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects.
- Mentoring and assisting more junior electrical team members.
- Completing electrical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.Education and Experience RequirementsLevel 1- Requires bachelor's degree in Electrical Civil Engineering or related, and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.Level 2- Requires bachelor's degree in Electrical Civil Engineering or related, and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.Required Knowledge and Skills- Experience in studies of power electrical systems for large copper mining projects using ETAP software.
- Experience in the elaboration of reports of different electrical studies: - Load Flow- Short Circuit- Motor Starting- Arc Flash- Grounding- Relay Protection Coordination
